Sports Saturday w/ Al Galdi on ESPN 980 (Feb. 4, 2012)

Sports Saturday w/ Al Galdi on ESPN 980 - Feb. 4, 2012

On Feb. 4, 2012, I appeared as a guest on ESPN 980 on the show "Sports Saturday w/ Al Galdi," several hours before the announcement of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2012. The interview began with speculation on Dick Stanfel, a great Redskins lineman from the 1950s who was one of 17 finalists for induction. Stanfel played his first four seasons with the Lions, earning two NFL championship rings, and spent his last three years with the Redskins. All told, he was named a consensus first-team All-Pro five times and went to five Pro Bowls, both phenomenal achievements. He was also a fierce run blocker and opened many holes for the Redskins' "Lollypop" backfield of Ed Sutton, Don Bosseler and Jim "Poodles" Podoley, a trio that combined for more than 2,000 total yards in 1957. Galdi and I also discussed other Redskins who are worthy of HOF induction, including Brian Mitchell, Joe Jacoby, Larry Brown and Pat Fischer, and why a slew of Redskins have entered the HOF in recent years.
