Redskins Worst Season Ever? (article)73.94 KB

In this article in the Sunday Outlook section in The Washington Post, Mike Richman argues that the 2009 season was the Redskins' worst year since they posted a 1-12-1 mark in 1961, the franchise's all-time worst in winning percentage (.107).  It was bad enough that the Redskins finished a miserable 4-9 in 2009 and in last place in the NFC East.  But they looked so dysfunctional, botching games they had in hand and appearing like an amateur squad with a coach in over his head.  Off the field, a "Burgundy Revolution" took place with fans directing their ire at owner Dan Snyder and his top personnel executive, Vinny Cerrato, who was fired near the end of the season.  The turbulence on the field and the acrimony off of it made for a toxic combination.
